(�����������) - Love to eat something cool after a hot and tiring day? Looking for an alternative to ice cream in Seychelles?

A new joint that serves frozen yogurt is now open in the island nation, offering customers a selection of flavours and toppings.

Yo love it -- the island's first self-service frozen yogurt outlet -- opened three weeks ago. The business, owned by French entrepreneur Steve Colas, is located at Eden Plaza, on the outskirts of Seychelles capital, Victoria.

In an interview with SNA this week, Colas said: “I was looking to create a nice place with top quality products and toppings to propose something unique in Seychelles.”

Colas started offering frozen yogurt in 2013 at his juice bar -- Sey si bon -- also located at Eden Plaza. He started off by making smoothies with frozen yogurt and offering cups of the frozen dessert with local fruit toppings.

With the new dedicated frozen yogurt shop, customers can use the self-service option, by choosing their cup size, mixing in yogurt available in ten daily flavours, and choosing their preferred toppings.

Besides vanilla, chocolate, passion fruit, mango, raspberry, cheesecake, melon, pomegranate, blueberry and vanilla flavours, Colas said customers who like to eat healthy can also choose gluten-free and low fat yogurt.

While most of the products are sourced in Seychelles, the owner of the frozen yogurt bar has to import some of the fruits that are not found locally, such as blueberries.

“They [customers] can also mix different flavors in a cup and choose some toppings like sprinkles, marshmallows, caramel sauce or fresh fruits like passion fruit, mango, raspberries, blueberries, pomegranate or muesli, which is more than 25 toppings,” said Colas.

“We change one or two flavours every day so you could find something new at each visit,” he added.

Frozen yogurt is a dessert made with yogurt and sometimes other dairy products. Colas told SNA that the dessert -- also known as fro-yo -- which is quite popular in the United States -- is slowly picking up in Europe.

SNA caught up with Daniel Agathine who was enjoying a blueberry and caramel salted butter yogurt while visiting the Yo love it shop for a third time on Tuesday afternoon.

“I come here because I enjoy the service and this new product which is a first for Seychelles. It feels like Europe, it’s a nice change,” said Agathine.

Rebecca Alcindor, who stumbled upon the outlet while going round Eden Plaza, was impressed with the shop’s décor, adding that “I like the fact that you can choose from a selection of flavours.”

Each cup of frozen yogurt is weighed and the customer pays accordingly with the price set at 40 Seychelles rupees [around $3] per 100 grammes. The shop also proposes frozen yogurt in a cone at a fixed price of 35 rupees [around $2.60].

Yo love it is open every day between 11 a.m and 6:30 p.m from Monday to Saturday, and from noon to 6:30 p.m on Sundays.
