(�����������) - The assistance of Interpol is being sought by authorities in Seychelles to assist with the investigation of a Seychellois who has been missing for two weeks, a top official of the police said.

Commissioner of Police Reginald Elizabeth told a news conference Thursday that it has been two weeks since Marvin Asba was last seen.

Marvin, a 27-year-old from the eastern Mahe district of Anse Aux Pins, was last seen on June 29 at the Bel Air car wash on the outskirt of the capital Victoria.  He was reported missing to the police on Monday, July 3rd, and all attempts to find him have been in vain.

“Since then we have investigated and conducted several operations. Up to now, we have nothing concrete on the whereabouts of Marvin. At this stage, I believe we are going to raise the level of our research and operation to find Marvin,” Elizabeth said.

The commissioner said that at this point, the police have appealed to Interpol for assistance with international detectives to help with the investigation.

Interpol -- the International Criminal Police Organisation – can enable police forces from its 190-member countries to fight international crime but also provides a range of policing expertise and capabilities.

The commissioner said he has also asked the President of Seychelles as the Commander in Chief of the Seychelles People’s Defence Forces for the assistance of the military in the operation and research to find Marvin.

The Seychelles Coast Guard is also participating in the research on the coastal areas.

“I am increasing the reward of SR50,000 ($3,600) to SR 100,000 ($7,300). This is for the person who gives us concrete and direct information that will help us find Marvin. The police have set up a special and confidential number to call with credible information, that is 2641935,” said the commissioner.
