This聽Creole聽speciality restaurant has a very interesting history. In 1984 Mr. Jean-Baptiste Horter launched his dream for a beach restaurant by providing private BBQ grills from his catch of the day, for tourists on the beach. In no time, visitors were sitting under a sunshade enjoying his fish and coconut drinks, with salads and garlic bread being added to the menu. It was from the origins of this humble grill that a small restaurant was born.

The Italian tourists named the restaurant Batista and little by little, Batista became a popular eating-place on Mah茅. Today it is considered to be one of the best seafood restaurants on the island and is the meeting place for local and international gourmets. Batista is located on Takamaka Beach, reputed for being one of the finest beaches on the island.聽
